Jeanne Ellen "Trix" Bloomfield Kille
November 12, 1954 – September 25, 2025
Jeanne Ellen Bloomfield Kille - beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, nurse, and world traveler - passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2025, in Lakewood, Colorado, after attending a Bonnie Raitt concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater. She was 70 years old.
Born November 12, 1954, in Evanston, Wyoming, to Kenneth and Muriel Bloomfield, Jeanne grew up in a lively, close-knit family. Her father nicknamed her "Trix," Ken was a gunner in World War II with many experiences some of which may have contributed to his choice of names, regardless, when Jeanne arrived in 1st grade and the teacher told them all to write their names, she did, TRIX, to which the teacher told her "no" to which she said YES and started to cry ~ the only name she had ever known was Trix - a name that stayed with her throughout her life. From childhood, Jeanne's spirit was feisty, competitive, and full of energy. She loved outdoor play with her siblings, holiday gatherings with grandparents, and family traditions, especially Thanksgiving and her mother's homemade ice cream.
Jeanne excelled in school and graduated as valedictorian of the Evanston High School Class of 1972. She was a gifted athlete and performer - skiing, serving as drum majorette, twirling baton, performing acrobatics, and playing clarinet in the marching band. She studied nursing at Ricks College (now BYU–Idaho) and Brigham Young University, beginning a 41-year nursing career in 1975.
As a nurse, Jeanne devoted her life to caring for others. She served at LDS Hospital and Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, often working long night shifts while raising her family. Beyond her local service, Jeanne combined her nursing skill with her adventurous spirit on more than 69 international medical missions. With Operation Smile and Rotaplast; she traveled the globe bringing healing to children and families. She also served twice aboard the USNS Mercy and twice aboard the USNS Comfort. One of her favorite memories was convincing surgeons to operate on a mother - not only the children - and then seeing the daughter cry tears of joy, saying, "Mother, you look so beautiful."
Jeanne was fearless and curious - a world-traveling healer and risk-taking adventurer. She ventured to all seven continents, sailed across the seas, and visited more than 55 countries, often returning with "treasures" that delighted (and sometimes puzzled) her family. She loved yard sales, thrift shops, and garage sales - always on the lookout for a bargain or a meaningful gift.
Faith and service were the pillars of Jeanne's life. She volunteered in the Utah State Prison ministry, served as a missionary and guide at Bluff Fort in Bluff, UT; the Historic Cody Mural and Museum in Cody, WY; and the Church History Museum in Salt Lake City, where she was still serving at the time of her passing.
At home, Jeanne's greatest joy was her family. She raised five children, later married Willard Bronson Kille III in 2007, and embraced her role as stepmother and grandmother with love. To her 14 grandchildren, she was "Grandma Jeanne" - playful, creative, endlessly patient, and always ready with a book, a laugh, or a hug. Even mischief was met with laughter instead of scolding.
Jeanne will be remembered for her unmatched energy, humor, patriotism, resourcefulness, and zest for life. She was, as her children put it, "no-nonsense - in a non-sensible way." She lived with courage and curiosity, served with compassion, and left a legacy of love that will endure for generations.
She is survived by her husband, Willard; her five children, Amber (Chris), Jason (Jenni), Molly (Benjamin), Kevin (Melora), and Trevor (Corine); her stepchildren Willard B. Kille IV and Megan (Adam); her siblings Mary Anna (Rich), Kent (Kay), and Kit (Leah); and 14 beloved grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Muriel; her brother, Tim; her granddaughter, Blakely Rose Beck and her stepson, Bart Kille.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3408 S. Celeste Way, Salt Lake City, Utah where a viewing will be held prior to services Friday, from 9 to 10 am and at the church Thursday evening, October 9, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
