Linda Jean (Sackett) Green passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 8, 2025. Linda was born May 9, 1947 to Alma and Rachel Sackett in Richfield UT. One of five children, "Jean" moved with her family as her father worked large construction projects throughout the west. The family lived in Arizona, California, and Utah making many fond memories camping, riding horses, and spending time together. Eventually the family settled in Utah, building a home in Layton. Jean attended Central Davis Junior High and Davis High, where she was a D'Ette, graduating in 1965. She spent some time in the workforce, but most of her life was dedicated to supporting her husband Duane in his career and raising their two children, Bret and Shellece.
Duane and Jean loved boating. As a young family they enjoyed water skiing at Willard Bay and would even go after work on summer nights to just get in a few hours. They continued their passion at Flaming Gorge, where they kept their boat permanently at Lucerne Marina, making lifelong friends. They eventually bought their second home in Manila, UT near the lake where they spent time together gardening, feeding the birds, and hosting family and friends. Jean was a loving and dedicated mother, sister, and grandmother. She was passionate about her garden and had a beautiful pond filled with koi fish for many years. She dedicated her time to her husband, children, grandchildren, and her dog Lilly, one of many pets, and built lasting memories with those close to her.
Jean is survived by her daughter Shellece (David) Howell. Brothers, Lavell (Donna) Sackett and Ken (Sharon) Sackett. Grandchildren Cody Green, Brady (Laramie) Green, Charlie (Janaea) Capron, Kedric (Sydney) Capron, Connor (Sydney) Howell, Zoe (Kyle) Ruhlin, and Garrett (Madison) Howell. She has six great-grandchildren, Ellie, Irie, Brooks, Finn, Maisie, and Wesley, and many extended family members who spent time with her. A special thanks to her Sister-in-Law Sharon Green who spent time with her this past year, with weekly visits to Jean's home in Uintah, UT where they would have lunch, watch a movie, and chat. And also, Sean and Marjon Hughes, who became Duane's and Jean's dear friends many years ago in Manila and continued to call Jean almost daily and visit often. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Duane Green, son Bret Green, sister Julie Rowe, sister Velma, and her parents.
The family would like to thank the dedicated aides, nurses, and staff from Community Nursing Services for their support and care in Jean's final weeks.
A celebration will be held at Premier Funeral Services, 5335 South 1950 West, Roy, UT 84067, on Friday, October 17th, at 2pm.
"Mothers plant the seeds of love that bloom forever. I keep in my heart the love of the past, for there it was planted forever to last. Your presence I miss, your memory I treasure, loving you always, forgetting you never. An understanding heart, an intelligent mind, we miss you Gram, you were one of a kind."
