Jeannette Krause, age 77, of Rockaway Township, NJ, died on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover, NJ after a long illness.
Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, to the late Giovanna Scala, Jeannette grew up in Akron with a loving circle of extended family. She started her family in Akron when she married her husband John in 1979. She later lived in Columbus, OH and later moved to Texas before settling in Rockaway in 1984. No matter how far from Ohio she traveled she always considered Ohio her home.
Her career began at Ohio Bell and continued with AT&T, where she was known for her dedication and warmth. In 2003, Jeannette followed her passion for nurturing young minds and founded Bridges to Learning with her daughter where they worked together for many years. The center was an early childhood learning center that became a beloved cornerstone of the community. She cherished each and every child who passed through its doors, treating them with the same care and kindness she gave to her own family.
A devout Catholic, Jeannette was deeply rooted in faith as a parishioner of St. Cecilia Church in Rockaway. She found joy in life's simple pleasures. She was an avid reader, loved playing tennis with her family, and was always excited to play cards. She loved vacationing in Hilton Head and taking trips with her family and supporting Amanda and Will by volunteering in anything they particpated in while growing up.
No matter how far from Ohio she traveled, she always considered Ohio her home and could talk endlessly about growing up with her large group of cousins. She loved staying in touch with them over the years and this family connection was immensely important to her. Jeannette loved football and you could always find her cheering loudly for her beloved Browns on Sunday afternoons in the fall. She passed her love of football down to her grandson and loved playing Fantasy Football with her family every year.
However, nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her grandchildren-Ella, Jake, Lily, Grace, and Nina-who were the light of her life. Jeannette loved sharing in anything that her grandchildren loved to do, including cheering for them in sports, getting wrapped up in their favorite TV shows, sharing ice cream late at night, and taking time everyday to talk to them about what was happening in their lives. One of her favorite things to do was to pick them up and drop them off at school, sports, friends houses, etc. She welcomed every one of their friends into her heart. Jeannette was a daily fixture in their lives and the joy they brought to each other will live on forever.
Jeannette's spirit lives on in the hearts of her husband John Krause, her children, Amanda Krause DiScala and Will Krause; her beloved brother, Thom Scala (Diane); her nephews, Jason and Tommy Scala; her cherished Aunt Rosie Ferrise; and many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave., Rockaway, NJ 07866. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated immediately following visitation at 11:30 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Rockaway.
