Jeannette Fay Tackitt

Jeannette Fay Tackitt, 83, of Wortham, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025. Born on December 15, 1941, in Corsicana, Texas, to James "Buck" Murphy and Ruby Faye "Trixie" Murphy. Jeannette lived a life full of love, learning, and dedication to others.
A proud graduate of Navarro College, Jeannette earned her associate degree before becoming a mother to three children. She later attended Texas A&M University, graduating in 1974 with a degree in elementary education. Jeannette spent 14 years teaching math to 2nd and 4th graders at Wortham Elementary School, where she was known for her kindness, patience, and unwavering commitment to her students. She retired in 1998, leaving behind a legacy of educating and inspiring young minds.
In her free time, Jeannette was a passionate gardener, avid reader, and talented seamstress. Her creativity and gentle spirit were reflected in everything she did, whether tending to her flowers, sewing, or sharing a good book with her loved ones.
Jeannette is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert Tackitt; her three daughters, Cindi Lansford and husband Mike, Julie Martin and husband Brian, and Martine Tackitt; and five cherished grandchildren, Cole Tackitt and wife Melani, Katie and Becca Lansford, and Hallie and Kellie Jo Airheart. She also leaves behind many dear friends and extended family members who will miss her warmth and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Lynn Murphy, and her parents, Buck and Trixie Murphy.
Jeannette's life was a testament to the values of love, service, and dedication. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wortham Ex Students Association for Student Scholarships or Wortham Methodist Church, two institutions that were dear to Jeannette's heart.

Services have been entrusted to Corley-Porter Funeral Home, 208 North Canton, Mexia, TX 76667. There will be a private service at a later date.
