Jeff Guth

Mr. Jeffrey Edward Guth, better known as Jeff, age 64 of Sparta, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Jeff was born August 28, 1961 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Dr. James Edward and Yvonne Clair Dickson Guth. Jeff earned his bachelors degree from Tennessee Tech and began a career in law enforcement in 1986 with the Franklin Police Department. He returned to Sparta to join the Sparta Police Department in 1992 and worked his way to Chief of Police until his retirement in 2019. Jeff was an active member of the Sparta First United Methodist Church. Jeff loved baseball and proudly served as a Little League coach for many years.

Surviving family members include his wife of 38 years Judy Guth

Son: James Guth and wife Kelcey

Daughter: Stephanie Guth Eubanks and husband Stephen

Grandchildren who knew him as Pappy: Grant Guth and Everly Guth

Brother: Gerald Guth and wife Ramona

Niece: Ashlee Nebel and husband Jeff

Nephew: Kyle Guth

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Monday, March 16, 2026 at the Sparta First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Alcoa, Tennessee at 3:00pm EST. The family will receive friends from 1-5:00pm Sunday at the church.

Roggie Haston, Drew Haston, Seth McDonald, Dalton Bain, Kyle Guth and Kyle Goff will serve the family as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Sparta First United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
