Jeffery Vaun Throckmorton, 78, passed peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 7th, at Legacy House in Spanish Fork, Utah.
Jeff was born in Provo, Utah, on July 26th, 1947, to Charles Benton Throckmorton Jr. and Levaun Carmen Lyons. He was raised in Provo, Utah. He attended Brigham Young University, where he earned a B.E.S. in Chemical Engineering, and the University of Utah, where he earned his Master of Science in Public Health.
Jeff was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, converting as a young adult. Jeff married Annette Ruth Anderson on May 23rd, 1975, in the Salt Lake Temple, with whom he had five children. They divorced on November 5th, 1996.
Jeff had a distinguished career as a certified industrial hygienist and chemical engineer, including working for the Salt Lake County Health Department, running the Salt Lake office of Hygienetics/GLC, serving as president for his private consulting firm, Health and Safety Services, and working as a senior IH for both the University of Utah and Brigham Young University.
He proudly served on the board of directors for the American Industrial Hygiene Association and the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.
When not working, Jeff enjoyed spending time with animals, particularly his pet cats, and taking in the wonders of the natural world.
Jeff is survived by his children, Jeremy (Krystal), David (Andrea), Heather (Jesse), Laura (Danny), and Amber (Mike), and his twelve grandchildren: Matthew, Molly, Norah (David), Milo, Ember, Jane, Ryker (Heather), Boden, (Laura) Teigan, Cannon, Taymon, and Brexton (Amber)
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12th, 2025, at the Canyon View Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10494 North 4720 West, Highland, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., at the same location.
