Jeff Heverling Obituary

Tall and thin.

Quietly standing out in a crowd.

He lived and loved as a humble man within his community.

But to his immediate family Jeffery Michael Heverling was a GIANT.

A juxtaposition of humility and hidden fierceness.

Relentlessly...

rising early every morning to study and pray.

Relentlessly...

surrendering his life to God, as an emissary, as a Jedi.

Relentlessly...

influencing the peace and success of other people.

Jeff died on November 13, 2023 at the age of 84.

He graduated from Graceland College before attending Western Washington University

and then acquiring a PhD from the University of St. Louis.

Most of Jeff's professional career was working as a public school administrator.

He retired after serving several years as the Superintendent of Bald Knob School District.

He spent most of his life as an ordained minister in the Community of Christ church, pastoring congregations, directing youth camps and church reunions. While serving as an Evangelist Jeff shared what might have been his greatest gift to others, the Sacrament of Blessing.

Jeff loved his wife, Ann Heverling. He said he only wanted to live as long as Ann lived. She passed away more than two years ago.

Jeff was a tremendous father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He is survived by his sons Rob and Todd Heverling and their families who will continue to try and live out Jeff's remarkable legacy.
