Jeffrey L. Kitchens, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at his home in Rentz, GA. Born on November 23, 1955, to the late Wiley and Bernice Cox Kitchens, Jeffrey's life was a testament to the values of family, faith, and friendship that he held dear.
A proud 1973 graduate of East Laurens High School, Jeffrey's work ethic and joking spirit were evident to all who knew him. He dedicated many years of service as a dye weigher at Forstmann. His commitment to his faith was unwavering, and he was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Jeffrey's love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 38 years, Fay McCullough Kitchens, of Rentz. Together, they built a life filled with joy and cherished memories. He was a loving father to his daughters, Caroline (Michael) Shillingburg of Rentz and Ashley (AJ) Davidson of Winterville, NC. His role as Pa to his grandchildren, Shay Shillingburg (Cooper Andrews), Dylan Shillingburg, Izzy Kate Davidson, Nash Davidson, Jett Davidson, and the eagerly awaited Ford, was one he embraced with enthusiasm and pride. Jeffrey's sister, Lynette Waldrep, predeceased him, but he is fondly remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews.
An avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the GA Bulldogs, Jeffrey's passion for sports was only matched by his love for cooking, reading, and music. He enjoyed researching family history, often recounting tales that would bring his ancestors' stories to life for the younger generations. His culinary skills were a delight to his family and friends, and his reputation as a jokester ensured that laughter was never in short supply. Those who knew Jeffrey would describe him as loving, friendly, and selfless. He had a unique ability to make each person feel valued and loved, a trait that endeared him to many. His absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
Jeffrey's life was a journey of joy, service, and unwavering faith. As we bid farewell to this loving husband, dad, and Pa, we take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. His legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire us, and his memory will be a guiding light for generations to come.
We give thanks for the life of Jeffrey L. Kitchens and we celebrate the eternal peace he now enjoys. His story does not end with his passing, for he has left a long lasting mark on this world that will never be forgotten.
