Jeffrey P. Matthews, known affectionately as Jeff, passed away on August 15, 2024, at the age of 67 in Melbourne, Florida after succumbing to injuries he suffered from an accident in the ocean on June 23, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Jeff spent his formative years in Upper Darby, PA before moving to New Jersey where he lived in West Windsor for the past 27 years. He lived a life marked by courage, resilience, service, and dedication to his family.
Jeff's fearless spirit was evident in his battle against cancer, a fight he approached with the same vigor he applied to all areas of his life. After beating cancer Jeff fulfilled his dream of spending time on the beach in Florida, where he could be found with a drink in his hand, listening to the Phillies game.
Jeff's commitment to service was showcased through his military career in the Air Force, where he proudly served his country before embarking on a successful career as a Project Manager. At the time of his death Jeff was employed at ABB where he was instrumental in delivering safe, smart, and sustainable energy solutions.
A lifelong learner, Jeff's educational journey included attending the Community College of the Air Force, Temple University, and Rutgers University. His passion for education extended beyond his studies, as he generously gave his time coaching youth sports, shaping the lives of many young athletes in the West Windsor and Princeton, NJ communities.
Jeff is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Donna; cherished sons, Jeffrey and Jonathan; brother, Paul Matthews (Lisa); cousins; and in-laws who were with him when the accident occurred and heroically ran into the ocean to save him. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Matthews.
All services are under the direction of Beach Funeral Home, Satellite Beach, Florida. Jeff's life was celebrated in Florida and a memorial service reflecting a life well lived will follow in New Jersey.
