Jeff left us at an age that was much too early on June 12, 2024 after a two and a half year battle with Glioblastoma. His untimely death took place while in the care of Hospice at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, NY.
He was born in Middletown, NY to Marie Anita Vogt and Clifford Montanye on December 3, 1967.
Jeff was extremely talented and had a fondness for photography and a passion for writing.
He was employed as a computer technician at Minisink Valley School District at the time of his death. He also taught computer tech, photography and self-publishing at BOCES in Goshen, NY.
Jeff wrote several young adult sci-fi books and won numerous awards for his photography. His greatest wish was to be remembered as a self-published author.
Ironically, at the age of 20, Jeff hiked the Appalachian Trail in an effort to bring awareness of, and raise funds for, the Cancer Society of Orange County.
He is survived by his mother, Marie, and father and stepmother, Clifford and Carole, as well as his brother, Patrick, 4 sisters, Dauria, Jennifer, Jeannine, and Jamie and 2 stepsisters, Jennifer, Dianne and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at the Bread of Life Church in Bullville, NY on Monday June 17. The viewing will be at 10 AM followed by an 11 AM service. The burial will follow and take place at the Wallkill Cemetery in Middletown, NY.
