Jeff R Read Jr.

Jeff R. Read, Jr., age 81, a lifelong resident of East Brainerd, TN; passed away November 1, 2025 at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, FL surrounded by his family.

Mr. Read was born in Chattanooga, TN on April 10th, 1944, son of the late Jeff Read, Sr. and Alene Powell Read.

He graduated from Tyner High School and the University of Tennessee and proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-1970 .

Jeff spent 20 years with McKee Foods where he was a line supervisor until he retired. He was a member of Standifer Gap Seventh-day Adventist Church where he developed his strong faith in Pappa Jesus.

He was an avid collector of art, enjoyed landscaping, gardening and construction of his home. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He recently retired to sunny Florida to spend time with his son. He was also an avid antique collector and enjoyed playing cards. Jeff will be fondly remembered for his sarcastic sense of humor.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Read Fourroux.

Jeff is survived by his son, Jeff R. Read III and wife Kristie, two beautiful granddaughters, Tori and Emma Read, all of Pensacola, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 6th at 1:00 PM at Westview Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Fourroux, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers will be JD Fourroux III, Rev. Jerry Fourroux, Jr, Jeff R. Read III, Zedek Fourroux, Kevin Shirley, and Rusty Lacey.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 6th from 11:00 am until 12:45 pm at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
