Jeffrey Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Christian Sells Funeral Home on Oct. 3, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Jeffrey Lynn Smith (Jeff), age 66, of Rogersville went home to be with the Lord, family and friends on October 1, 2025 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. His loving family was by his side. Jeff was a loving husband, dad and papaw. He enjoyed life and loved to laugh. He retired from TRW after 43 years and was a faithful member of Hickory Cove Baptist Church. He served as deacon and adult Sunday school teacher. He especially enjoyed singing and teaching. Jeff's grandchildren were the loves of his life as he was blessed to be their papaw and to enjoy sweet moments with them. Each of them being very special and having their own special place in his heart. To Maggie, Kamora and Kai he will always be papaw and to Paden he will be remembered as Pap. Jeff had a special love for all of his family who dearly loved him. He will always be loved, greatly missed, never forgotten and will have a special place in the hearts of family and friends. A part of him will remain with each of us until one day we will all be together again in that home that knows no more sorrow, tears, pain or parting.

Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Palmer and Evelyn Smith; brother, Steve Smith; father-in law, William (Bud) Smith; sister-in-law, Loretta McCracken.

Jeff is survived by his loving family and wife of 47 years, Darlene; son, Steve (Ruby) Smith; daughter, Ashley (Nick) Lawson; grandchildren, Maggie and Paden Lawson, Kamora And Kai Smith; mother-in-law Joyce Smith; Sisters-in-law, Ann Smith, Patricia (Gary) Shaw, Lisa (Mike) Luster; brothers-in-law, Tim (Judy) Smith, Tim McCracken; special niece, Kaite Luster; several other nieces and nephews; special friend, Donnie (Anita) Harris whom he loved like a brother.

The family would like to extend special thanks to caregivers Alice, Cori, Amy, Dr. Danny Wester and Christina and Amedisys Home Health and hospice care workers.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 5:00-7:00P.M. at Christian Sells Funeral home. Funeral Service will begin at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tommy Seals and Pastor Caleb Seals officiating.

Graveside service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Highland Cemetery.
