Beloved professor of English died January 27. Jeff was a resident of Port Huron, MI, for 21 years, where he taught English at St. Clair County Community College. He previously taught in Williamsport, PA; Knoxville, TN; New Orleans, LA; Dodge City, KS; and Iowa City, IA. Jeff was raised in the Chicago suburbs and spent his childhood summers with his extended family in Kenosha, WI. He was enormously proud of his Italian American heritage.
He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Cornell College, Iowa, and his master's degree from the University of Iowa. Jeff was a passionate English professor who loved teaching English literature and creative writing. He lived to be in the classroom or watching sports with his dogs. He was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Black Hawks and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
He is survived by his daughter Emily of Elk Grove Village, IL, and his son Francesco of Knoxville, TN, and his sister Cyndi (Bob) Bachmann and nephews RJ and Bryce and niece Alexis of Hawthorn Woods, IL, as well as many cousins. He will be remembered for his sharp intellect, unique sense of humor, and imaginative storytelling ability. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and many former students.
Donations can be made in Jeff's honor to the American Diabetes Association or to the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
