Jennie E. Martinez, 77, of Cheyenne was born May 13, 1948, in Mora, New Mexico to Fedelia Padilla and Abelardo Maestas. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones on May 30, 2025.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Paul Martinez, whom she married October 18, 1967; her children, Roxanne Martinez, Paul Martinez (Valerie), and Charlotte Sandoval; her grandchildren, Brittany Huffman (Michael), Travis Martinez, Mathew Martinez, Bailee Martinez, Tiffany Martinez (Daniel Rodriguez), Zoey Martinez, Joshua Sanchez, and April Sanchez; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her son Walter Martinez and her sister, Mary Bessie Bartow (Sanchez).

Jennie was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Tia, friend, sister and wife. She loved to dance, sing, cook and spend time with her family and friends. She always remembered birthdays and made sure to let her loved ones know they were important. She enjoyed winning on the slot machines and winning in the pool halls. She was a small but mighty pool shark who enjoyed running the tables. Her kindness, laugher and sense of humor left a mark on all who knew her.

She worked for the Cheyenne Housing Authority for over 40 years as a cook. After retiring she continued to volunteer her time at the Senior Center, spending her days visiting, laughing, talking, playing pool and enjoying time together with her husband. Her work ethic and empathy for the people she served was seen in the long-lasting friendships and relationships she built. Jennie’s memory will be forever cherished by her family and friends. Her legacy as a mother and grandmother will endure and her spirit will continue to inspire us all. In our hearts, Jennie lives on, and we will forever honor the legacy of a remarkable woman who made a lasting impact in our lives and our community.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in honor of Jennie Martinez to Nuvision Federal Credit Union, 414 E. 18th Street, Cheyenne, WY 82001.
