Jennifer Marie Carpenter
January 16, 1957 – September 4, 2024
In the Care of Ratterman Brothers, East Louisville (12900 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, KY 40243).
Jennifer Marie Carpenter died on September 4, 2024, from complications related to glioblastoma. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family.
Jenny was born Jennifer Marie Rolo on January 16, 1957, to Rita Rae Rolo and William "Bill" James Rolo in Columbus, Ohio. She was the first of two children. She graduated from Lancaster Ohio High School and went on to study dental hygiene at The Ohio State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1979.
She met John on a blind date in 1985, and the two were married on March 15, 1986. Their family soon grew to include three children: Ben in 1988, Kate in 1989 and Will in 1992. The young family lived together in Grove City, Ohio until making Louisville, Kentucky their home in 1996.
Jenny worked as a dental hygienist for over 40 years – always threatening to retire but never officially doing so as she loved her patients and the patients loved her. She took pride in her work and was simply the best at what she did. She frequently ran into her patients in the community, and she so enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with them away from the dental chair. However, her favorite patients were her husband and children.
Jenny was a loving wife, mother, and friend. She was a true giver and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to someone in need. She was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church serving home bound ministries for several years. She was a longtime supporter and participant in the Bike to Beat Cancer. She, along with her family, rode at least 35 miles every year for the last 10 years to raise awareness and money for the Norton Cancer Institute. She was also an avid golfer and played in Seneca's women league.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence John Carpenter; children: Ben Carpenter, Kate (Aaron) Mann, and Will (Angela) Carpenter; granddaughter, Cora Mann, grand dogs: Lexie, Scout and Leo, and sisters-in law: Debbie (Steve) Isaac, Beckie (Greg) Kingsbury, Pam (Bob) Seese, and Jayne (Earl) Smith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Rita Rolo, and her beloved Uncle, Virgil Ben Martin.
Visitation will be from 3:00pm - 8:00pm, Monday, September 9, 2024 at Ratterman Brothers, East Louisville (12900 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, KY 40243). There will be a funeral mass at 10:00am on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at St. Patricks Catholic Church (1000 N Beckley Station Rd, Louisville, KY 40245) with a luncheon to follow. A committal service will be at 1:00pm at Floydsburg Cemetery (5600 Old Floydsburg Rd, Crestwood, KY 40014).
