It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jenny Lee Gritzo, a beloved mother, cherished friend, and esteemed member of the community. Jenny peacefully left this world on October 18, 2023, in her hometown of Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 28, 1935, in Springfield, Jenny was known for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith. Jenny was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ralph A. Gritzo. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before his untimely passing on September 2, 2011. Jenny became a licensed real estate agent for Era McLaury Real Estate in Kansas City, Missouri. Jenny excelled as a supervisor at AlliedSignal Aerospace, where her dedication and expertise were invaluable. Her passion for learning new things led her to receive her bachelor's degree from Avala University.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jenny was a woman of remarkable character. She had an unwavering devotion to her faith, and her love for Jesus Christ guided her every action. She exemplified the principles of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, an organization she held dear to her heart.
Outside of work and her religious affiliations, Jenny found solace and joy in the simple things in life. Thrift shopping and exploring yard sales were her guilty pleasures, always on the hunt for hidden treasures. Her green thumb led her to spend countless hours tending to her garden, nurturing and cultivating its beauty.
Above all, Jenny's greatest pride and joy was her beloved son, Rick, and her daughter-in-law, Maria. The long talks and treasured moments they shared were a testament to the unbreakable bond between a mother and her child. Jenny's kind and selfless nature radiated through her interactions with her family, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Hoover and Rachel (Cassell) Skidmore; her husband, Ralph Gritzo; a grandson and great-granddaughter.
As we gather to mourn Jenny's loss, we also celebrate her extraordinary life and the immeasurable impact she had on those around her. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her three grandsons, Richard, Jedidiah, and Joshua; numerous great-grandchildren, other family members and friends.
Funeral services to celebrate Jenny's life will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home, North in Springfield, Missouri. Friends, family, and acquaintances are welcome to pay their respects during the visitation, which will be held prior to the funeral service, starting at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Funeral services to celebrate Jenny's life will begin at 11:00 am also in the funeral home. Jenny will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, Missouri.
In our loss, let us also find comfort in knowing that Jenny's soul now rests in eternal peace, embraced by the warm embrace of her Savior. May her spirit continue to guide and inspire us all.
Forever cherished, forever loved, forever missed.
