Jerald Powell, 80, of Cobbtown, died peacefully at home early Tuesday morning, November 18, 2025. Born in Reidsville to George Benjamin Powell and Euna Mae Collins Powell, Jerald spent his entire life in Cobbtown, faithfully attending Cobbtown Methodist Church. A devoted farmer on his family’s land, he was truly a jack of all trades who loved the outdoors—especially fishing. He was a great story teller and his stories got better every time he told them.
Jerald was preceded in death by his father, G.B. Powell; his mother and step-father, Euna Mae and Earl Oglesby; and his brothers, Jerry and George Powell.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Annie M. Powell; his son, Gerald Powell, Jr. (Sally); two grandchildren, Ben and Logan; his brother, Jimmy Powell (Judy); sisters, Jennie Mae DeLoach and Mary Fordham (Russell); sister-in-law, Angie Powell; special cousin, Aaron Collins; best friend, James Curl; and many nieces and nephews who adored him.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Cobbtown Methodist Church, with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Sunlight Cemetery. Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, is entrusted with the arrangements.
