Jerald L. Weaver
April 1, 1945 – February 2, 2023
Jerry passed away on February 2, 2023 in Strong Hospital. He died of natural causes, primarily his COPD, which he has had for several years. Jerry was born in Franklinville, New York. He was pre-deceased by his parents George and Luella (Cummings) Weaver; sisters, Joyce (Bill) Cramer, Faye Ann Weaver and Nancy (Johnny) Broberg, Father-In-Law Aaron Golub. He is survived by his loving husband of many years Marty Golub; beloved nieces and nephews Michael (Barbara) Goodhand, Linda (Tom) Heaslip, Paul (Ann) Goodhand, Danny (Kim) Goodhand, Lance Schurr, Leanne Schurr (Phil Tidd); many great nieces and nephews, Mother-in-Law Arlene Golub, Brother and sister in laws Howard and Tracy Golub, Kenny and Marilyn Golub, nephew and niece Charles Golub and Aliyah Golub, dear friends Norm Erickson, Dick Proseus, Gary Driscoll and Molly McCarthy, Tom Bondi, Wayne Olshark, John Schmitz and so many others.
Jerry attended St. Bonaventure University (valedictorian of his graduating class) and received his doctorate from Florida State University. He was a college professor for over 40 years. He retired from SUNY Brockport after 39 years of service there. He was an excellent teacher and valued colleague.
Jerry gave to many charities and helped out family and friends without ever mentioning it to anyone except Marty. He gave quietly, generously and often. If he loaned someone money, he often did not keep track of someone's debt or just told them at Christmas that the debt was "paid".
Jerry loved the Buffalo Bills win or lose. In 1960 He attended the first ever Bills game at War Memorial Stadium (The Rockpile) in Buffalo. He was an avid and knowledgeable sports fan. He also enjoyed being with family and friends, traveling, entertaining, working outside, going out to eat, theatre, keeping up with the news and just living life and enjoying. (and his Budweiser). Jerry grew up on a dairy farm and loved animals his entire life. He will be missed and loved always.
Family and friends may call at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, 3325 Winton Road South, Rochester, NY 14623, on Sunday, March 5, from 1-4 PM, where his Memorial Service will follow at 4PM in the Interfaith Chapel of Miller Funeral and Cremation Services. Marty, so sorry for your loss! I loved Professor Weaver! He graduated with my father and unknowingly he became my professor and advisor! I thought of him often as he helped launch my career and when in Greece I thought of you both often!!!
