Jeri Lyn Spencer, 75, of Laingsburg, Michigan, passed into God's arms on August 30, 2025. Born in Lansing in 1950 to Delbert and Dawn Blizzard, Jeri lived her life with a heart full of faith, a love for family, and a gift for creating beauty in all she touched.
Jeri's childhood was filled with love and learning. She spent countless Friday nights with her Grandma and Grandpa Brown - cribbage with Grandpa, crochet lessons with Grandma - skills and traditions she carried through her life. She loved the memory of her father's garden, where she first learned the value of patience and hard work. That love of growing things continued throughout her life as she and her beloved husband, Dennis, cultivated vegetables, canned them for winter, and savored the fruits of their labor together.
A proud graduate of Everett High School's Class of 1968, Jeri attended Michigan State University, where she met Dennis in the most charming way - a chance encounter in the student lounge, an elevator ride, and a bold request for her phone number. They married in 1969, beginning a lifetime of love, partnership, and adventure.
Jeri paused her studies to raise two children, Michelle and Matthew, then went back to Michigan State in 1993 to finish her degree in Elementary Education. Her heart for helping others led her further still - earning a Doctor of Naturopathy and a Master's in Herbology from Trinity School of Natural Health. Her work as a Naturopathic Doctor brought deep joy and purpose. One client called her "a healer and a light to so many," a reflection of her humility and compassion - Jeri never cared for titles, only for serving others.
Guided always by her faith, Jeri prayed continually, "Thy will be done, show me the way," trusting that God would lead her. Her favorite scripture, Ecclesiastes 3, spoke of life's seasons - to plant, to heal, to build, to laugh, to dance - and she embraced each one fully.
Jeri's creativity knew no bounds: she sewed her own wedding dress, made Michelle's wedding gown, crafted quilts, knitted treasures, scrapbooked family memories, card making, and even taught her granddaughter Rachel how to bead and bake. And thanks to Dennis, who once brought home frog-shaped salt and pepper shakers from a trip to Houston, Jeri developed a lifelong frog obsession. What started as one tiny amphibian pair quickly multiplied into an entire household of frogs - on shelves, tables, and just about anywhere they could hop in. To Jeri, frogs became more than cute collectibles - they were a reminder to Fully Rely On God (FROG), something she lived out every single day as both a doctor and a woman of unwavering faith. She was also the family's musical backbone, playing flute, piano, organ, and guitar, accompanying church services and high school musicals. She was delighted to see her grandchildren, Rachel and Spencer, inherit her love of music.
Jeri led by example as a mentor, serving as Michelle's Girl Scout leader from Brownies through earning her Gold Award, and sharing her love of crafts and camping with countless girls through meetings and camps.
A lover of card games - bridge, spades, Uno, pony - Jeri treasured time spent around the table with family and friends, a tradition passed down through generations. She also poured herself into family history, researching over 9,000 ancestors dating back to 4 BC, and creating generational scrapbooks for the Blizzard, Brown, and Spencer families.
Jeri and Dennis shared a love of travel that began with camping trips down rugged two-track trails and grew into journeys in their RV, Harvey. Together they explored all 50 states and ventured across the globe, hand in hand.
Jeri was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Spencer, and her parents, Delbert and Dawn Blizzard. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Spencer; sister, Pam Blizzard; daughter, Michelle Pryslak and son-in-law Jeff Pryslak; daughter-in-law Beth Spencer; grandchildren Rachel and Spencer Pryslak and Brenden Spencer; sister-in-law, Dolores Spencer - all of whom carry her love, faith, and creative spirit in their hearts.
She taught us to laugh through life's challenges, craft through its quiet moments, and love through every single season.

Ecclesiastes 3
King James Version
3 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
