Jerome E. Esker, 80, of Hatley, died on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, surrounded by family.
Jerome was born on January 12, 1945, in Wausau. The son of Felix and Catherine (Sabolic) Esker.
On June 29, 1968, Jerome was united in marriage to Loraine Pietz at St. Florian Catholic Church in Hatley.
Jerome graduated from Wittenberg High School. After graduation, he drove milk truck while working on the family dairy farm. Jerome took over the dairy farm and was a third-generation farmer. He was still actively crop farming and driving tractor. Farming was part of his soul and he truly loved it. Jerome also delivered propane for Rightway Propane. He enjoyed being outside, hunting, and making firewood. Jerome was very outgoing and loved talking to everyone.
Jerome is survived by his wife, Loraine; four children, Lori (Kevin) Esker, Kristy (Mike) Balliett, Perry (Linda) Esker and Ryan (Angela) Esker; five grandchildren, Alexis (Trevor) Balliett, Colton Esker, Logan (Taylor) Balliett, Maria Esker and Camryn Esker; siblings, Roger (Ann) Esker, Robert (Kathleen) Esker, Janice Pflieger, and Gary (Susan) Esker; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ruth (Ron) Manders, Jerome (Donna) Pietz, Linda (Steve) Borchardt and Beverly Szews. Jerome is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jerome was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. Rev. Jerome Patric and Rev. Roy Witucki will concelebrate. Visitation will be on Saturday, from 8:30 AM until the time of Mass at the church.
