RIVERSIDE- Jerome Greiner, age 73, of Riverside, formerly of Keota, died Sunday, May 26, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Jerome was born December 23, 1950, in Washington, the son of Leo and Marvel (Rank) Greiner. He graduated from Keota High School in 1969 and received a BA in Animal Science from Iowa State University. On May 28, 1983, Jerome married Cheryl Deetz at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Clear Creek. Jerome farmed the family farm for nearly 50 years and also was a rural mail carrier. He and Cheryl moved to Riverside in 2012.
Jerome "Brome" enjoyed breakfast with his “Old Birds Club”, mushroom hunting, farming, raising cattle, playing pepper and spending time with his grandkids. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and selfless, dependable friend to all.
Jerome is survived by his wife Cheryl Greiner of Riverside; two daughters: Lea (Patrick) Romani of Denver, Colorado and Macey Greiner of Riverside; grandchildren: Tucker Romani and Mila Romani of Denver, Colorado; two brothers: Tim Greiner of Riverside and Dr. Rex (Suzan) Greiner of South English. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Theodore Greiner, Pat Greiner, and Dr. Tom Greiner; sisters: Mary Ann Greiner, Bonnie Lehman, and Carol Ann King.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Ss. Peter & Paul Church at Clear Creek, with Pastor Frosty Van Voorst officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
A memorial fund has been established for Washington County Hospice or a general memorial. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Jerome and his family. Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
