Jerome Clarence Michels

Jerome Clarence Michels, age 85, of Tustin, died peacefully at home on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

He was born March 14, 1940, in Durand, WI, the son of Clarence and Marian Sweeney Michels. Jerry attended Winneconne High School. On May 25, 1994, he was united in marriage to Carla Sphatt at Christ Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield.

Jerry was a mechanic by trade but not limited in his talents. He worked as an excavator in the construction field and enjoyed his days of farming and working on tractors. Jerry liked to play many different card games including Sheepshead and Solitaire. He enjoyed going for motorcycle rides, attending tractor pulls and splitting wood. His was truly a lifetime of hard work. Jerry was a cat lover who also enjoyed feeding the raccoons.

He is survived by his wife, Carla; two sons, Jerry (Dena) Michels and Steve (Rochelle) Michels; three daughters, Lisa Michels, Ann Michels and Roxanne (Louie) Carpino; six grandchildren, Ashley, Jerry, Jamie, Kali, Scott and Zachary; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Glenn Michels.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel in Poy Sippi. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., with Rev. Rebekah Tarras officiating. A memorial has been established.
