Sehr geehrte Familie Sharr

Jerry was a very gentle, intelligent, excellent judge of character among other attributes. A great guy overall. I owe a lot of my success to Jerry. I can´t believe it´s a year already.

I´m so sorry for your family´s loss. I so admired Mr Scharr. I always enjoyed my time with him. One of my best memories was when my son Jarrett and I got to talk to him about his automobile collection. It was a great day in Bloomfield as we walked around his cars and talked about each one. Such a caring and unique human.

I first met Jerry in 1975, as the salesman for ICI Films calling at 40 Newberry Road. On my second visit, he told me I needed a new company car which was my predecessors vehicle; it was black, boxy and looked like government tax auditors car! For the next 27 years I was fortunate to sell to Jerry Melinex Films to Scharr Industries and TechniMet. With my career ending at ICI/duPont, Jerry brought me on to sell for TechniMet in 2002.
While at TechniMet I would occasionally drop Jerry off at his Deep River home on my way home in Westbrook. There would be some business discussion, but diabetes was the main subject; Jerry a type 2, and me a type 1.
I am greatly saddened by Jerry's passing and extend my condolences to the Scharr family. Jerry was a true gentleman and I will continue to think of him often. He is a significant part of my life.

Uncle Jerry has always been such a kind and loving soul. He made the world a better place through his hard work, dedication, and love. He officiated my wedding and I always loved going to the house and seeing the cars. Sending all my love to Aunt Marlene and family.

I came to know Jerry thru Jeff in 1995 and through them Marlene, Michael, Janet, and Katelin. I recall a Christmas season gondola ride with my wife Chris, Jerry, Marlene, and maybe Janet or Katelin thru the inland waterways of a Phoenix hotel. There may have been music and Phoenix does get cold so there were blankets. Jerry and I (Gould) did a business deal that brought forth SP5 but my customer failed and ultimately Jerry developed an industry from a chance meeting on an airplane-diabetes test strips. We still did business as Ticer's product and new company evolved and Jerry was accepting of the arrangement. Jerry's business acumen alerted him to the dangers of an 80% customer, wish I had known that, so he sold. In the end, and some tough years, Ticer ended up with SP5, Ted, and George for which I will be forever grateful. I'm grateful to Jerry for his friendship, positive attitude, business strategy, indirect mentoring, and understanding. And to his family, Marlene, Janet, and Katelin, for their kindness as Ticer was being sold.
Chris and I pray for the family for their losses.

Mr. Scharr was the best boss ever. Working for him from 1985 to 1994 at Scharr Industries and Avanti was not only a great experience but a job I looked forward to going to everyday. He had a group of employees that truly respected him and he respected as well. We had some wonderful laughs but worked hard. He was a very influential person in my life and I will truly remember him for the wonderful person he was. My condolences to his family and may he rest in peace.

In July 1986, I was on a business trip flight from Hartford, CT to Chicago, IL, another business traveler sat beside me, that chance encounter would turn into a great relationship, both professionally and personally. That businessman´s name was Jerome Scharr (Jerry). It´s with a very heavy Heart that I write this today. From 1986 - 2008, I work for Jerry in 5 of his companies, (Avanti Machine, GoldFoil, Scharr West, Scharr Industries, and Techni-Met, Inc.) at many different levels. He was a mentor and a very good friend and that relationship continue for the many years to follow. Through all of my ups and downs in my life, and over the nearly 37 year relationship, he was someone I´ve always sought out if just for a simple conversation and coffee. I will always remember those talks, bike rides, lunch meetings, business trip, etc... Rest In Peace Jerry, I know I´m just one of many who will miss you! Finally, My deepest condolences to the Scharr family.

Dear Jerry,
It has been an honor to have known you and Marlene. You not only accepted me into your family when I married Bob, but you hosted our engagement party and were always loving, caring, kind and generous.
May you find peace and comfort and Janet waiting for you.
You will be sadly missed!

Please accept my sincerest condolences for your loss. Jerry was the big brother of my lifelong best friend (Lynn), so he was always an important figure in our lives. At social functions (such as weddings or birthday parties) he engaged me with pleasant conversation & always had a great smile. Rest in peace, Jerry..

I first met Jerry about thirty years ago. I was in graduate school yet our common connection was "coatings". Many, many years later we both ended up living in the Lower Connecticut Valley. Delighted to meet your wife, Marlene...What a gem! No doubt she will have lots of good memories of you. Yep, I have always thought you were the rare couple.

So sorry to hear about Jerry. I was in business with him and he was always level headed, analytical, reasonable and more than generous. I never heard him say a bad word about anybody. I´ll never forget that he enabled me and mentored me to be successful. I know he was also a devoted Jew and a family man. I´m sure he will be missed by many. Curt Rutsky

To the Scharr Family,
I have known Jerry for 45 years and worked for him at Scharr Industries in Bloomfield and then Techni-Met in Windsor. It was a pleasure working for him and we become good friends after many years. I have a lot of good memories throughout my years being part of his team and enjoying all the picnics, holiday parties and family get togethers at various functions. I will always be grateful for the technologies he taught me that I still am a part of. He will be greatly missed by myself and Barbara and will always be in my thoughts. I hope the fond memories you have will help you through this difficult time. Fondly Barbara and Ted Fisher
