We regretfully announce the untimely passing of Jerome Maurice Scholz on November 15, 2024, at the age of 38. Jerome was born to Ulrike Scholz on February 3, 1986, in Bremen, Germany. He immigrated to Atlanta, Georgia with his mother at the age of five, where he ultimately graduated from Westlake High School in 2004.
Jerome pursued higher education at Fort Valley State University, achieving a Bachelor's degree in Business. Demonstrating a strong commitment to service, Jerome enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably as a Sergeant in Iraq and Djibouti, Africa. His dedication to serving others continued after his military career, as he joined the Irving Police Department, where he dedicated five years to protecting the community.
An enthusiast of physical fitness, Jerome was passionate about running and working out. His energetic spirit and dedication deeply influenced everyone around him.
He is mourned by his mother, Ulrike Scholz of St. Louis, MO; his uncle, Christian Scholz and his wife, Frauke; and his nieces, Johanna and Amelie Scholz of Germany. He was preceded in death by his cherished grandparents, known affectionately as Oma and Opa Stiller.
A gathering to celebrate Jerome's life will be held on Friday, November 22nd. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerome's memory can be made to the Irving Police Memorial Athletic League and Irving Police and Fire Blue Christmas.
