Jerrie Dean Burley West was born in Camilla Georgia on July 10, 1959. She was the beloved daughter of Annie Lois Burley and the late Jerry Burley, Jr.

She received her formal education from Mitchell County High School graduating with the class of 1977.

At a very early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

She was united in marriage to Terry West, Sr., who preceded her in death. To this union two children were born, Derrick Antonio West and Terry West, Jr.

Over the years Jerrie became a teacher for Baker County School System. She was a very dedicated teacher and loved teaching her students. Jerrie was also an outdoor person. She loved planting fruit trees and flowers. Her favorite flower was yellow lilies. She also had a passion for cooking. She loved her family. She was a very outspoken person.

In addition to her husband, Terry West, Sr, she was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Burley, Jr.; a brother, Terry Vernard Burley, Sr.; a daughter-in-law, Daisy Mae West, nephew; Terry Vernard Burley, Jr.

On Friday, October 10, 2025, at her residence, Jerrie answered the Masters call to eternal rest.

She leaves to cherish her everlasting memories, her children, Derrick (Uamiko) West of Atlanta, Georgia, Terry (Nicole) West of Thomasville, Georgia. Her grandchildren, Tyson Nathan West, Shelton Brown-Smith Jr., Johna Shamoria West of Valdosta, Georgia, Derria Burley, Craig Darianna Shana both of Atlanta, Georgia, Janiya Keylashay West of Moultrie, Georgia, Brianna Soto West of Mexico; one great granddaughter, Imani Serenity West-Roberson; her mother, Annie Burley; a mother-in-law, Florence West; eight siblings, Develyn Bownes, Wanda Jackson, Joyce Burlay (Craig) Lusane, April (Timmy) Cooper, Mellikesha Burley, Travis (Courtney) Burley, Craig (Ann) Burley, Rickey (Tina) Burley; sister-in-law, Teresa Merritt Burley; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
