Jerry Wallace Carnell, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at the age of 88, in
Marlow, Oklahoma. Born on December 24, 1936, in Bemis, Tennessee, Jerry's life was a tapestry of love, hard work, and unwavering faith that touched many.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the First Assembly of God in Marlow, with Rev. Elwyn Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at the Marlow Cemetery, all arrangements have been entrusted to the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services.
Viewing will be held at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 between the hours of 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Jerry is survived by his cherished wife, Rosetta Carnell of the home; his loving son, Jerry Wayne Carnell and wife Kathy of Duncan; his devoted daughters, Pamela Rosetta Cannaday and husband Kevin K. of Burleson, TX, and Kimberly Cheryl Jordan and husband Tommy R. of Rush Springs. He was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren who will all miss his gentle presence. Jerry also leaves behind his brothers, James A. Hannis Jr. of Jackson, TN, E.O. "Tiny" Carnell, Robert Odell Carnell, Ronnie Carnell, and Ralph Carnell, all of Henderson, TN; his sisters, Louise Bayers of Tombs, TN, Alice Shields of Boliver, TN, Trudy Hopper, Troyce Taylor, and Anita Daniels, all of Tennessee and daughter-in-law Brenda Carnell.
Preceding him in death were his sons, Michael W. Carnell and John Steven Carnell; his sister, Mary H. Reeves and Johnny Sue Palmer; his great-granddaughter, Ryleigh J. Malone; his mother, Beulah Mae (Mainers) Hannis; step-father, James Hannis Sr.; father, John Otis Carnell; and step-mother, Alene Carnell.
Jerry attended school in his hometown of Bemis, Tennessee, where he laid the foundation for a life of integrity and kindness. He built a career as a dairy worker at Johnson Milk and Ice Cream, where he was affectionately known as the "Milk Man" by both colleagues and family alike. His work ethic and friendly demeanor made him a well-respected member of the community.
His interests were as simple as they were profound. Jerry found joy in driving and admiring the scenery, a hobby that reflected his appreciation for the beauty of the natural world. He was also a skilled carpenter and an avid gardener, taking pride in creating and nurturing life with his hands.
Jerry was a man defined by his loving nature, his faith-filled heart, and his unwavering kindness. His legacy is one of compassion and devotion, and he will be remembered for the warmth and light he brought into the lives of those who knew him. Jerry Wallace Carnell's memory will forever be a beacon of love and strength for his family and all who had the pleasure of crossing his path.
