Dr. Jerry "J.C" Alden Carpenter, 81, of San Antonio, Texas, formally of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 8:45 pm August 13, 2025 at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He was born April 23, 1944 in Saint Louis, Missouri to the late C. Dale Carpenter and Grace (Bratley) Carpenter. J.C. married Leslie Carpenter on August 23, 2014.
J.C. is survived by his beloved wife of nearly eleven years; daughters, Kristie Rice and husband, Robert of Marion and Kimberly Norris and husband, Mark or Marion, Illinois; grandchildren, Marshall Dunn, Jessica Rice Moore, Jenna Rice, Andrew Dunn, and Lindsey Minor; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, J.C. was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Carpenter; infant sister, Sonya Carpenter; and brothers, Don and Floyd Carpenter.
J.C. owned and operated a chiropractor practice for thirty-three years alongside working as a platform instructor activator method at Logan University in Saint Louis for thirty-four years. He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, Logan Chiropractor International Association Sponsor and a member of Norwegian Society in Saint Louis. J.C. was raised at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church and was very active in the choir at Manchester Methodist Church in Missouri and Central Presbyterian in Clayton, Missouri. J.C. sang in the National Cathedral Choir in Washington D.C. for seventeen years. J.C. was a graduate of Mount Vernon Township High School in 1962.
A Visitation will be held Friday, August 22, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with Mr. Andy Krumsieg officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in J.C.'s honor to Jubilee Community Church ( jubileeMinistriesstl.com) located at 4231 N. Grand St Louis MO. 63107.
