Jerry Edward Gantt, 81, Columbus, Ohio (formerly of Centerburg, Ohio and Mt. Vernon, Ohio) passed away peacefully December 11, 2025, with family by his side. He was born on February 20, 1944, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, to the late Lloyd and Emma Gantt. He had one older sibling, James Gantt.
As a child, Jerry grew up in Mt. Vernon, Ohio and attended and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1962. Jerry was a veteran and was drafted into the Army and served two years in Germany.
Jerry and his wife Peggy were avid bowlers in the Mt. Vernon, Ohio area. They bowled in leagues for many years. Bowling brought them together. He married the love of his life, Peggy Jean Gantt (Parr) on March 24, 1979, in Las Vegas, NV. Another joy in his life was supporting the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Boston Celtics.
In 1984 Jerry and Peggy moved to Columbus, Ohio to a house they built in a neighborhood near Blendon Woods, where they spent their lives together.
He spent his entire work career at HPM Company in Mt. Gilead and at Overnight Transportation in Columbus, OH. He was a very dedicated and reliable worker. Jerry retired in 2005.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Emma Gantt, brother James Gantt, son Toby Gantt and daughter Ronda Michael.
He leaves behind family to cherish his memory: wife Peggy Gantt, daughter Connie Hobner (Mark), son-in-law Nick Michael, seven grandchildren: Brody Hobner (Nicole), Tyler Hobner, Erica Mejia (Hassan), Andrew Shoemaker (Lindsey), Amber Hansen (Tyler), Alex Michael (Morgan) and Mareena Michael (Joe). Seven great-grandchildren Layla, Luke, William, Charles, Richard, Abraham and Mateo.
