Shirlene Hobbs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel on Dec. 13, 2025.
Shirley (Kinnaman) Hobbs, 88, passed away Thursday December 11th, 2025, at The Ohio State University Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on May 14, 1937 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edward and Vivian (Jones) Kinnaman, Sr. She was Baptized at the age of 12 in Columbus, Ohio. On September 15, 1957 she would marry William R. Hobbs, Sr. and together they would raise their five children. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, her parents, and her brothers Herbert Sr., Frank, Edward Jr., Thomas, and Donald Kinnaman; as well as her sisters Helen Zeise and Joyce Barbour.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Rebecca (Roger) Baham of Anahuac, Texas, Peggy (Jerry) Seidler of Mount Vernon, and Patricia Herod of Josephine, Texas as well as her sons John (Cheryl) Hobbs of Mount Liberty and William, Jr. (Robin) Hobbs of Cardington. She is also survived by her grandchildren Curtis Mackley, Randy (Courtney) Mackley, Cameron (Courtney) Mackley, Jamie Seidler, Jacob Seidler, Wesley Herod, Jacquelyn Herod, Chad (Amber) Hobbs, Amber (Corbin) Masters, and Kyle (Lindsey) Hobbs and twenty five great-grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by her very special friend and sister Michele Reissland from their years working at the Delaware State Park.
While her and William, Sr. were raising their family, they enjoyed making memories together on camping trips and her family picnics and reunions. She was very proud of her family and graciously cared for her dad in his late years. Shirley enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, listening to music by The Statler Brothers and watching the wildlife that would visit her birdfeeders from the "new" room and wraparound porch that was added on to her house. She always looked forward to and was especially proud of her annual Christmas party where up to thirty family members would gather for feast (including her famous macaroni salad) and fellowship. Her growing family made the addition to her house necessary and she was always so excited and happy to host that event each December. Visiting Shirley's home always meant a warm welcome and a hot cup of coffee. She will be sorely missed by her friends and family.
Friends are welcome to join the family for a graveside service at Mount Liberty Cemetery, 7501 Simmons Church Road, Centerburg, Ohio 43011 on Monday December 15th, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Dallas Waggle officiating.
