Jerry Lee Montgomery, Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on November 13, 2024 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on December 25, 1950, in Charlestown, Indiana.
Jerry was a proud Army veteran and a devoted member of the American Legion Post #335 in Charlestown. His unwavering patriotism and commitment to service were cornerstones of his character. Jerry exemplified the spirit of dedication not only in his military service but also in the way he approached life and his relationships.
Throughout his life, Jerry found joy in the simple pleasures of fishing and woodworking. These hobbies brought him satisfaction, allowing him to connect with nature and express his creativity.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Montgomery II (Erin); daughter, Melody (Joe Ashby) Montgomery; long-time partner, Sandra Cochran; and three cherished grandchildren. The family he leaves behind has been deeply influenced by his love and values, which will continue to resonate in their lives.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, William Montgomery and Viola Lewis Montgomery, as well as his twelve brothers and sisters. Their legacy lives on through the stories and memories shared by Jerry's family.
As we remember Jerry Lee Montgomery, Sr., we celebrate a life dedicated to family and service. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Burial and Full Military Honors will follow on Tuesday, at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery (1415 North Gate Road, Madison, Indiana).
