Jerry Dennis Nelson, age 82, of Dalton, Ga. passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. He was born December 2, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Evelyn Roach Nelson.
Jerry, a proud veteran, honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy, specifically in the Construction Battalion, affectionately known as the Seabees. With unwavering dedication and hard work, he embodied the Seabee motto: "We Build, We Fight." His time in service reflected his deep commitment to duty, teamwork, and resilience, values he carried with him throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Georgia Nelson; son, Mike Nelson (Elena); daughter, Donna West (Christopher); brother, James Nelson; grandchildren, Katrina Watkins, Brianna West, Olivia Nelson, Michelle Martinez, Alvaro Nelson; great grandchildren, Bryson, Watkins, Zachary Watkins, Lane Watkins, Ezra Lance, Spencer Jones, Liliane Nelson, Mason Martinez, Allison Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Ricky Ford.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Jerry Dennis Nelson will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at the Chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Ricky Spence officiating. Interment will be Dunagan Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Dalton Funeral Home. Arrangements have been entrusted to independently owned and operated Dalton Funeral Home, 620 S. Glenwood Ave. Dalton, GA 30721; 706-529-5371.
