Jerry Phelps

Mr. Jerry Phelps, age 75, of Louisville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 17, 2025. Jerry was born in Louisville, KY on September 22, 1949 to the late Anna Dee Woosley Phelps and Marvle Carlos Phelps. He graduated from Southern High School in 1968. He humbly served in the United States Army Reserves from 1970-1976 and was a retiree from General Electric after 35 years of dedication. A man of many talents, he had a passion for restoring old cars, was a gifted woodworker and could repair just about anything. His craftmanship and problem-solving were matched only by his servant's heart. Jerry was diligent in his service to Bethlehem Baptist Church where he was a deacon. His life was rooted in his faith and family. He will be profoundly missed.
In addition to his parents, his son, Jeffrey Scott Phelps preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 53 years, Charlotte Phelps; daughter, Carrie McGee (Kelly); son, Eric Phelps; grandchildren, Jerry S. Phelps (Krista Neece) and Zachary McGee; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Peggy Lewis (Garland) and Michael Phelps (Cindy); several nieces and nephews and a host of other dear family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, July 24, 2025 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of his service at 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
