Jerry K. Putman, 83, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024, at home in Decatur, IN. Born in Whitley County, IN, Jerry was a son to the late Charles Oliver and Ilo Mae (Clark) Putman. He was a 1959 graduate of Columbia City High School and served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1960 to 1964 during the Cuban Crisis. Jerry worked for International Harvester for 31 years. He was known for being hardworking, peace loving and having a gentle generous soul (sometimes to a fault). Jerry was always grateful to everyone for everything. Surviving are his brother, David L. (Catherine A. Gaffer) Putman. There are no services scheduled at this time. Arrangements entrusted to Covington Memorial Funeral Home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.

Me and him had a nick name for our dog he called her smiley because she didn´t know him at first so she was leery at first till she realized he was a good guy but he always asked whe was we going to grill her it was a joke that went on for ever he had us in tears laughing he will be missed for sure

To Jerry´s family my name is Tony Jerry was a very nice man he gave me a chance in life again when I didn´t think I would make it he had more confidence in me that I didn´t see in my self I can´t tell you how much I really will miss him I just know my heart breaks and I know were he is so I will keep going thinking of him all the time I will be ok and I know that now God bless you all
