Jerry Jackson Tice, Jr., affectionately known as Jay to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024, in Greenville, SC, at the age of 63. Born on November 10, 1960, in Jacksonville, FL, Jay was a man of humor, common sense, and wisdom, whose presence brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.

Jay is survived by his devoted wife, Marcia, with whom he shared a loving and adventurous life. They were married for 22 years. He was a cherished father to his daughters Marie and Samantha (Jeffrey). Jay leaves behind 2 sisters, Joy and Sherrill (Todd). They fondly remember their brother's playful spirit and unwavering support. He was a beloved grandfather to 3 grandchildren, Bradley, Ethan, and Mason.  He was the fun uncle to his nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Mary Tice.

Jay's commitment to his country was evident through his long and distinguished career. He proudly served in the Florida Air National Guard from 1982 to 2016 retiring as a Master Sargeant (military) and a Maintenance Shift Supervisor (civilian). Jay's colleagues respected him not only for his professional expertise but also for his ability to lighten the mood with his quick wit and clever jokes.

A man with a zest for life and a love for the open road, Jay found pleasure in driving, traveling, and exploring new places. He was never one to sit still for long and you could count on him to make sure important things got done. Jay's appreciation for nature was evident in his amateur gardening and his enjoyment of simply being outside, where he felt most at peace.

Those who knew Jay will remember him as the man who was always ready with a helpful hand. His ability to fix or "Jerry-rig" anything that was broken earned him the title of the family's go-to handyman, a role he embraced with pride and diligence. Above all, Jay will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to taking care of his people, ensuring that those he loved were always supported and provided with his honest opinions and observations.

Jay's sense of humor was a defining characteristic, providing endless entertainment and cherished memories for his family and friends. His thoughtful gestures, whether big or small, were a testament to his caring nature. Jay's ability to bring laughter and light into the lives of those around him will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

As we bid farewell to Jay, we celebrate a life lived with passion, generosity, and an abundance of love. He was a beacon of joy and a pillar of strength for his family, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Jay's spirit will forever be etched in the hearts of his loved ones, and his memory will be treasured for generations to come.
