Jerry Raymond Torix, 90, passed away on October 10, 2024. He was born in Ozark, Arkansas, on August 22, 1934, to Bill and Laura Torix. Jerry married the love of his life, Lavon (Webb) Torix on July 14, 1961.
Jerry served in the United States Army for two years. After serving in the army, Jerry worked for Killorn Construction, out of Bentonville, Arkansas, where he learned the trade of being a lineman and his love for climbing electric poles. Jerry then worked for Rich Mountain Electric Company out of Mena, Arkansas, and retired after 30 years. While at Rich Mountain Electric Company, he worked alongside his friend and former boss, Leon Philpot.
Jerry served many years as a deacon for Lakeview Baptist Church of Mena and Bethlehem Baptist Church of Gravette. Jerry was strong in his faith; and would always tell people, "If you've got Jesus, that's all you need."
Jerry loved spending time with his family, which was his pride and joy. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend whose memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Ed, Doug, Luther, and Rosevelt; and sisters, Jo Ollie, Gertie Mae, and Mary Ann.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lavon Torix of Decatur, Arkansas; children, Debbie Hale (Joe ) of Bentonville, AR, Eddie Torix (Holly) of Fayetteville, AR, Luella Keen (Mike) of Decatur, AR, Melissa Puckett (Edd) of Mena, AR, and Shane Torix (Teresa) of Mena, AR; and eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Bethlehem Baptist Church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Jheri Roberts, will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Coffelt Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Raymond Torix, Garrett Torix, Seth Puckett, Brandon Keen, Ethan Junker, Eli Cook, and Jeremy Nguyen. Honorary pallbearers are Jake Bunch and Josh Hale.
