LaVerne Edna Torix

LaVerne Edna Torix, Fort Gibson resident was born July 17, 1931 in Moodys, OK the daughter of Jewell and Mamie (Kiddy) Waltman. She passed from this life on July 5, 2023 in Tahlequah, OK at the age of 91.
She grew up in Moodys and she attended Blackgum School until her family moved to the Ponca City area. She graduated from the Shidler High School in Shidler, OK. LaVerne worked for Structo Manufacturing assembling toys before going to work for Corning Glass. She was an inspector and decorator for Corning, retiring with over 34 years of service. Always on the go she enjoyed traveling, going to the "Wally World" and especially spending time with her family. She also enjoyed going out to eat at Olive Garden and Rib Crib. LaVerne also enjoyed playing card games such as Skipbo and Canasta.
Surviving are her children Sandra Radebaugh and fiancé Steve Huggins of Fort Gibson, Vernon "Buck" Torix and wife Linda of Checotah, OK, Sheryl Cox and husband Bruce of Fort Gibson and Carol Radebaugh and husband Michael of Fort Gibson; one sister Pat Stacy of Coweta, OK; grandchildren Vickie Terronez, Marcie Cox, Marc Cox, Jason Torix, Billy Torix, Aaron Torix, Bruiser Torix, Michael Radebaugh, Christin Radebaugh, Cherish Radebaugh, Traci Torix, Dustin Torix and Anthony Torix; 32 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Mark Torix, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday July 10, 2023 at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with Rev. Cecil Guthrie officiating. Interment will follow at Citizens Cemetery. Viewing will be on Sunday from 1 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Buck Torix, Jason Torix, Billy Torix, Bruiser Torix, Anthony Torix and Dustin Torix. Honorary Pallbearers will be Aaron Torix, Marc Cox, Michael Radebaugh, Jobe Terronez and Jonathan Terronez.
