Jerry Lynn Vansickle, age 72, of Trafalgar, passed away on Tuesday morning, November 19, 2024, at Ascension - St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born in Franklin on November 11, 1952, Jerry was the son of the late Vernon and Mary (Preston) Vansickle. He was a 1971 graduate of Indian Creek High School and went on to have a long and successful career as a Master Carpenter with the Carpenters Union Local 130 in Indianapolis, retiring in 2009 after 45 years of service. Jerry was also a licensed Gunsmith, with a passion for target shooting.
A devoted member of Samaria Christian Church and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, Jerry found great joy in spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and his unwavering willingness to help others. Jerry's friends and family will cherish the memories of his friendly nature and his strong, dependable presence.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ann Louise (Gardner) Vansickle, whom he married on October 21, 1972, in Franklin. Jerry is also survived by his children, Cara (Bert) Whitley of Lexington and Amanda (Tony) Smith of Morgantown; siblings, Janet "Sue" (David) Wilkerson of Trafalgar, Kimberly Eisenmenger of Greenwood, Douglas (Cindi) Vansickle of Morgantown & Gary Vansickle of Trafalgar; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Jacob Whitley, Daniel Whitley, Bryce Smith & Maggie Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Pastor Shan Rutherford will conduct a funeral service on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jerry to the Samaria Christian Church, 4779 W. State Road 135, Trafalgar, IN 46181.
