Jerry Whobrey Obituary

Jerry "JW" Whobrey,  of Louisville, Kentucky, graced this world with his presence for 78 years, before he passed on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

Born on Halloween day in 1946 in Grayson County, Kentucky, Jerry was the cherished son of the late Garland and Oladine Whobrey. He now joins those who have preceded him in eternal rest—his beloved wife of 47 years, Nancy, and their son, Justin.

He leaves behind a vibrant legacy, embraced by his loving family: son Jeff (Lindsay) Whobrey, daughters Shannon (Roy) Garcia and Valerie Whobrey, and his treasured grandchildren—Chase, Kaylee, Monica, Carson, Maddie, Kyle, Kaleigh, and MaKayla. Along with them, Jerry held dear the bond with his cousin, Garland (Ruth) Conway, and his good friend, Dale Clary.

Jerry was more than a self-employed Master Mechanic; he was a spirited car enthusiast whose passion revved through every facet of his life. His heart thrummed with the rhythm of engines and the thrill of races, as he delighted in the art of restoring hot rods. With an open invitation to share his love for cars, Jerry introduced his family into that exhilarating world, where memories were painted in vivid colors beneath the blazing sun of racetracks. There was no greater joy for him than witnessing his sons and grandchildren experience the exhilaration of racing—each lap a heartbeat, each victory a shared triumph.

A man of simplicity and conviction, Jerry had a way of candidly expressing his thoughts, leaving no doubt about where he stood. He left those around him with a legacy of strength, encouraging everyone to voice their truths without hesitation. While his physical presence will be deeply missed, the values he instilled and the love he gave in his own way will radiate through the lives of those he touched.
