Jerry DeWayne Woods, 83, of Excelsior Springs, MO passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at his home in rural Ray County.

Jerry was born on July 7, 1938 in Kansas City, MO to Melvin and Bessie (Arnold) Woods. He graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1956 where he was on the football and track teams and married Barbara Elaine Lee in 1957.

After high school he became an electrician and co-owned Woods Brothers construction company with his brother, Kendall. He also farmed and was a pilot.

Jerry leaves behind a loving family and many good friends who came by to visit with him as he sat in his shop.

Jerry was precede in death by his parents and brother Kendall C. Woods and niece Jeanne Turner.

Jerry is survived by his daughter Janet Aldrich and husband Ben, son Roger Woods, his wife of 40 years Barbara Woods Blubaugh and her husband Rueben who have stayed close to him, sister-in-law Shirley Woods, and nephews Kendall and Kyle Woods and several cousins and great nephew.

Services will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Rock Falls Baptist Church, Orrick, MO. Visitation will be from 5:00-6:30PM with memorial service following.

Jerry's family would like to thank Liberty Hospital doctors and nurses, the Excelsior Nursing and Rehabilitation staff and Kansas City Hospice for all their care the last few months. The kindness, care, and love of Cappi Lawrence, Connie Langdon, Selena Olsen and Sharon Gal will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to his family cemetery, O'Dell Cemetery Association, c/o Brian Christianson, 1600 Orrick Rd. Excelsior Springs, MO 64024.
