Jesse C Floeck III died peacefully on April 20, 2023, in Bryan, Texas. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 1 to 2pm with the funeral service beginning at 2pm at Strickland's Funeral Home in Caldwell. Interment will follow at New Tabor Brethren Church cemetery. The service will be officiated by Reverend Joseph Polasek of Snook Brethren Church. Military honors provided by The Caldwell VFW Post 4458.
Jesse was born to JC and Clarice Floeck on December 16, 1931, in Waco, Texas. Jesse graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston in 1950. Jesse met the love of his life, Joyce Orsag, they both graduated from Sam Houston State Teacher's College in 1955. They were married at New Tabor Brethren Church on November 24, 1955. Jesse and Joyce were stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas for a few years. After serving this stint at Ft. Hood, they moved back to Snook for a time before they moved to Houston so both could teach school for a few years.
In 1967, Jesse reentered the Army serving in Vietnam for a year. Upon his return from Vietnam, Jesse, Joyce and their three children began their military life. Stationed in Alabama, Germany and Illinois, the family enjoyed the adventures at each duty station, especially their time in Germany. In 1977, Jesse retired from the Army and returned home to Texas. Jesse and Joyce taught school for several years. In 1981, Jesse graduated from Texas A&M with a master's degree and was offered a civil service job with the Chemical School at Ft. McClellan, Alabama. In 1992, they retired again and returned home to Texas. Jesse was active with the American Legion and VFW Post in Caldwell. Jesse was proud to be a native Texan. He enjoyed being an Aggie, especially watching the Corps of Cadets pregame March-In and the spectacular performance by The Fightin' Texas Aggie Band. After Jesse lost "the love of his life "in 2017, he moved to Parc at Traditions in Bryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents JC & Clarice Floeck, his wife Joyce Floeck, his brother-in-law Joe Mottola, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bennie and Emily Hejl, his daughter-in-law Lois Floeck and granddaughter Amanda Howell.
Jesse is survived by his son and two daughters: Chuck Floeck, Eliska & Vincent Mattox and Molly & Dirk Howell; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister Sandra Mottola; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: Andrew Mattox, Vincent Mattox, Dirk Howell, Gerald Sefcik, Ronnie Hejl, Steven Orsag, and in absentia Jon Mattox, Chad Floeck, and Stuart Howell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Snook Brethren Church PO Box 247 Snook, Tx 77878, woundwarriorproject.com or Accent Care Hospice 1605 Rock Prairie Rd Ste 206 College Station, TX 77845.
The family is thankful for the care provided by Parc at Traditions in Bryan for the past few years. The family is also grateful for the special care provided by his Accent Care Hospice Team: Micki, Tyler, Mark, and William.
