It is with heavy hearts but joyful memories that we announce the passing of Jesse L. Howard, age 78, who departed this world on March 4, 2025, at Community Northview Health and Living in Anderson. Born on November 5, 1946, in Cadiz, Kentucky, Jesse was a devoted husband, loving father, and a cherished friend to many.
Jesse proudly served in the United States Army, where he displayed the bravery and dedication that would characterize his life. After his service, he brought that same commitment to his work at Guide Lamp, a division of General Motors, where he spent many years as a laborer before retiring. Jesse's work ethic was admirable, but it was his passion for football and basketball that showcased his spirit, as he played for the Anderson Packers, embodying teamwork and community. Later in life, he became one of Jehovah's witness where he enjoyed helping others.
Above all, Jesse's greatest love was for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tawanda, and their children: Donald (Andrea) Jordan, Nina Wilson, Jessica (Will) Jackson, and Monica West; His aunt/sister, Mary Howard Allen of Dayton, Ohio; He was also a proud grandfather to Donnya, Donnie, Jr., Christian, Christopher, Abrielle, Alexandria, Kasten, Kyson, Rayna, Josh, Jaelan, Thaddius, Teshay, and many more whom he loved. He enjoyed the delight of several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special nephew, Gerald Felder. His family will always hold him in their hearts, cherishing the countless memories they created together. The family would like to express special love for Pezi and Mary Lawler, and Florence Baker, and (brother), Uncle Bumpy and Aunt Iverne, and Brother Jonathan Montgomery.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Allison Howard and Nellie P. (Jones) Sims; Step-father, Crawford Sims, son, Raymond Newsom, grandchild, Rashee; but his legacy will live on through the love and laughter he shared with those around him.
