Jesse Nelson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home & Crematory on Nov. 18, 2025.
Jesse Essex Nelson, 47, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Loveland, Colorado, on November 9, 2025.

Born on August 24, 1978, in Loveland, Jesse was the son of Daniel Nelson and Cathy Dreyer-Nance. He graduated from Loveland High School and remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life.

On March 24, 2025, Jesse married the love of his life, Dawn Nelson, in Lead, South Dakota. Though their time together was far too short, the joy they shared in their eight months of marriage was immeasurable.

Jesse is survived by his wife Dawn; his 10-year-old son, Maddox Nelson; his parents, Cathy and Daniel; his brother Jason and Jason's partner, Jamie; and Maddox's mother, Christine Higgins.

Jesse often said his greatest accomplishments were the birth of his son, Maddox, and building Nelson Overhead Door Company LLC from the ground up-with nothing more than a worn-out van and a bag of tools. He took great pride in co-parenting Maddox, traveling, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. Through his business and his time at Sweetheart Lanes bowling alley, Jesse formed lifelong friendships.

Known for his quick wit, love of movie quotes, and unmistakably infectious laugh, Jesse brought light and laughter to everyone around him. He was always up for a good time, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, 815 E. 16th St., Loveland, Colorado, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Those wishing to continue celebrating Jesse's life are welcome to gather afterward at McGraff's American Grill for an open taco bar beginning at 12:30 p.m. McGraff's is located at 1602 E. Eisenhower Blvd., Loveland, Colorado.
