Services for Jesse Timothy Reese, III, of Columbia, age 84, will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a later date. The Rev. Charles Smith of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church will officiate. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Born in Columbia, SC, Jesse was the son of the late Aimee Gibbes Urquhart and Jesse T. Reese, Jr. He attended the Citadel and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was later commissioned as an officer. He served as President and CEO of Jesse T Reese, Inc., Insurance and Real Estate Agency, founded in 1910 by his grandfather Jesse T. Reese. Jesse was a member and Deacon of Park Street Baptist Church.
Jesse is survived by his children, Margaret Linley Reese and her husband Patrick Goold, of Portsmouth, Virginia, Jesse "Tim" Timothy Reese, IV, of Columbia, SC, and Joseph Childs Reese and his wife Ashton Reese of Columbia, SC, and Thomas Ridley Reese and his wife Megan Brittingham of Fallbrook, California; sisters, Judith Reese Nye of Columbia, SC, and Mary Reese Burnside of Blythewood, SC; and 3 grandchildren, William Reese Goold, Everett Warren Reese, and Eloise Birdie Reese; nieces Aimee "Petey" Kornegay Nelson (Brian), Virginia "V.V." Van Metre Kornegay and nephew John Dunbar Kornegay, Jr.; and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Aimee Reese Kornegay and brothers-in-law John Dunbar Kornegay, John Raymond Nye and Richard Newman Burnside.
The family would like to thank his caregivers, Helen, Joseph, Jada, and Kaya Shiver, and Lighthouse Hospice.
