Jessie B. (Belle) Mossman, 94, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, passed away in Grapevine, Texas on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Jessie was born on July 12, 1930, in Elkins, West Virginia to William D. Weese and Margaret (Maggie) Belle McArdle. She was the youngest of nine children. Jessie attended school in Elkins and graduated from Elkins High School in 1948, where she met her future husband, G. Allen Mossman, Jr. She attended Davis & Elkins College for two years, majoring in Drama, with aspirations of becoming a Director.
Jessie and Allen were married on December 25, 1950. After Allen returned from serving with the USAF during the Korean War, they started a family. Their son, Jay, was born in 1956, followed by their daughter, Cyndi, in 1960. Jessie was active in her church from a young age, helping her mother at their Methodist church in Elkins. Her faith was a major focus throughout her life, and she remained very active in her church. In 1979, after living in multiple states, the family relocated to Grapevine, TX, where Jessie remained until her death. She worked as the office manager for a gynecologist for 12 years before retiring and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Grapevine for over 44 years. Jessie participated in many aspects of the church, including United Methodist Women, greeting, setting up for communion, and serving as a delegate for the church conference. Jessie never met a stranger and was loved by everyone she met. Her outgoing manner, genuine smile, and caring nature will be remembered by many.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, Maggie and William Weese; her siblings, Barney, Loretta, Burt, Fred, Mae, Ted, George, and Bessie; and her husband of 70 years, Allen, in 2020. She is survived by her son, G.A. (Jay) Mossman, III and his wife Nancy of Newtown Square, PA; her daughter Cynthia Hobart and her husband Greg of Grapevine, TX; her grandson Richard Mossman and his wife Nikki of Greensboro, NC; her granddaughter Tiffany Shoemaker and her husband Mark Price of Downingtown, PA; her granddaughter Victoria Faith Mossman of Grapevine, TX; and six great- grandchildren, Cole, Avery, and Mia Shoemaker of Downingtown, PA; and Pierce, Colin, and Elle Mossman of Greensboro, NC. A short visitation will be held on April 30, 2025, at 9:00 am, followed by the funeral at 10:00 am at First Methodist Church Grapevine.
