Jesus Reyes Serna Jr.

Jesus Reyes Serna, Jr., 80, passed away on May 29, 2023, in Arlington.
Jesus was born on July 20, 1942, in LaSara, Texas, and grew up in Raymondville, Texas, where he met and married Eva on May 29, 1960. They would move to Grand Prairie in 1968, where they made their permanent home and raised their family.
Jesus was a devout Christian. His calling led him to be ordained in the Baptist church, where he would serve in various capacities for more than twenty years. As part of his ministry, he was a self-taught musician with the guitar and would bring that gift to his ministry.
He was a professional truck driver for most of his life: long haul and short. Amongst his many activities, he loved Karate, he was a first degree black belt from the American Black Belt Academy, and had the opportunity to spar with Chuck Norris. Late in life, he endured an amputation, but still declared he could still make a kick.
Jesus was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his ministry, and never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Ricardo Serna and his wife, Angie; grandchildren, Jesus Ricardo Serna II and his wife, Cecilia, Anthony Jay Serna and his wife, Ashley and Paul Ray Serna and his wife, Brittany; great-grandchildren, Killian Serna, Reckon Serna and Ruby Serna; sister, Yolanda Santos and brother, Erasmo Serna and serveral nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Herminia Reyes Serna, Father, Jesus Garcia Serna, Maternal Grandparents, Adela Diaz Reyes and Avelino Reyes of Raymondville, Texas, Fraternal Grandparents, Jesus Serna and Petra G. Serna of LaSara, Texas; brother Arturo Serna of Grand Prairie, Texas.
A service in celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
