Jesusita "Jessie" Borjon

Jesusita Teresa "Jessie" Borjon, 101, Topeka, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
Jessie was born in McFarland, Kansas, the daughter of Marcos and Estefana Barrios Borjon. She attended East Topeka Junior High School and graduated from Topeka High School with the Class of 1944. Jessie was federally certified as a histology technologist in 1978. She started in 1957 at Lattimore -Fink Laboratory, then worked at Damon Labs before getting to St. Francis Hospital for 20 years. Following St. Francis, Jessie went to work for Dr. Scamman at his lab until she retired.
Jessie enjoyed travelling with her siblings. They travelled to Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, and all over the United States. She loved her family, reading, listening to music and dancing at all the family gatherings. Jessie was the rock of her family, and she was there for everyone that needed her. She was greatly loved and will be missed.
Jessie is survived by her daughter, Olga Schmidt (Mike); grandchildren, Rachel Schmidt (Adrian Erlinger) and Gabriel Schmidt (Ashley Grubb); seven nieces; four nephews; and several great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and even a few great-great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Maria Borjon, Matias Borjon, Saturnina B. Rodriguez (Jubencio), Reyes Borjon, Eulalia Borjon, Jose Borjon, Felicitas Borjon, Angela B. Cruz (Angel), and Jose Borjon (Lydia).
Rosary and funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor's choice, and sent in care of the funeral home.
