JeVaughn Mondy Sr

JeVaughn Mondy, Sr. was born on December 30, 1972, to Johnette O. Brocks and the late Oliver A. Brocks, Sr. On Friday, February 28, 2025, at Ochsner Medical Center-West Bank, God whispered to his child, and he answered the call home to rest at the blessed age of 52. JeVaughn was the youngest of three sons.
JeVaughn was baptized at an early age at Union Bethel AME Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Nelson Pryor Patterson. He attended Booker T. Washington Sr. High School, where he developed lifelong friendships and cherished memories. JeVaughn held various odd jobs throughout his life, and at the time of his passing, he had been working with the City of New Orleans Sanitation Department for seven years. He found joy in his work and the camaraderie he shared with his coworkers.
Before JeVaughn started his career with the City, he loved traveling with his Auntie Sandra to LaTech to attend his cousin Darryl's football games. He also enjoyed attending second lines on Sundays when he wasn't working, a tradition that brought him much happiness.
JeVaughn leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted mother, Johnette O. Brocks; one son, JeVaughn Mondy, Jr.; one daughter, Sabria Carter; one stepson, Shawn Williams one granddaughter, Briyah Carter; a very devoted friend, Krysta Williams; two brothers, Jesse Mondy and Brian K. Mondy; one stepsister, one niece, Madisyn Jessica Mondy; two aunts, Deborah O. Brazile (Gary) of McDonough, GA and Sandra Oliver; cousins Richard Oliver, Darryl P. Lewis, Jr., Michele B. Berfect (Sornell), Angela and Tiffanie Brazile, Kendrick Bullock, Johnnie Adolph, William H. Edwards, Jr. (Kelly), Erica Bullock, Kyla Berfect, Paige B. Brown, and a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends.
JeVaughn was preceded in death by his father, Oliver A. Brocks, Sr.; one brother, Oliver Brocks III; grandparents, Creola S. and Johnnie Oliver, Sr.; Houston Brocks and Dorothy Richardson; one aunt, Linda O. Bullock Spears; one uncle, Johnnie Oliver, Jr. (June); and one cousin, James Bullock, Jr. (Tootie).
Relatives and friends of the family, City of New Orleans Sanitation Dept, United States Postal Service, and Entergy New Orleans/Louisiana are invited to attend the homegoing celebration on Saturday, March 15, 2025. Visitation 8-10 am, Service at 10:00 am, at Union Bethel AME Church, 2321 Thalia St, NOLA 70113. Interment to follow at Providence Memorial Park, 8200 Airline Dr, 70003.
