Jewel Dean Jackson Looney, 95, of Stanley passed away on August 17, 2025, at Stanley Total Living Center. She was born on February 5, 1930, to the late John Guy Jackson and Amelia Nadine Coskrey Jackson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 64 years, Gene Looney, brothers, W.T. “Peewee: Jackson, and Bill Jackson, sisters, Ruth Hyden, and Evelyn Harkin.
Jewel was an active member at First Baptist Church in Bessemer City. She taught Sunday School for 30 plus years. She was a recipient of The Order of the Long Leaf Pine. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ, and her passion was to serve the church and the community. Jewel read through the Bible multiple times.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son; Travis Looney (Kim); daughter, Renee Beale (Tony); brother, Wade Jackson; sister, Amelia Prescott (Walter); grandchildren, Angela Dellinger (Jason), Alan Beale (Alison), and Jessica MacPhee; 7 great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to the staff of Stanley Total Living Center for all their compassion, love and great care of our mom.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home with Reverend Olin Byrum, III officiating.
Jewel’s funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm.
Interment will follow at Westview Garden Cemetery.
