Jewell always comes to mind when I reminisce about my childhood days living in Nocomo Heights at the age of 4yrs. I would play with his younger brother, Kirby, in the dirt in front of their back porch, and Mrs. Thomas would say, you are too tall for your age to wrestle with Kirby. So, Jewell said, "I will play with you." Jewell (5yrs) and I (4yrs) would do flips and wrestle. Jewell was very athletic from an early age and could wrestled a lot better than I. He was one of those talented persons who could have been a high school star athlete but conserved his natural abilities to the playgrounds, around family, and friends. I can imagine Jewell's love for music was inspired from watching and listening to his older brother, "Donnie" play instruments during our elementary school years.
