Jill Louise Rowley-Warr, 77, passed away on October 20, 2023 after a brave battle with cancer. Jill was born July 7, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Rowley and Dorothy Reese Rowley. Jill was raised in Ogden with her sister Linda, and brothers Ralph and Curtis. She attended Bonneville High School in Ogden, Utah, and graduated from Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas. Jill attended 3 ½ years at Weber State College, and 2 years at Seattle University and Jesuit College, which she always attributed to her love, learning, and knowledge of ancient religion, history, Latin, and the English language.

Jill worked at Hill Air Force Base and Defense Depot of Ogden until 1969. Then for the next several years she was a writer and editor for the Deseret News, the Houston Chronicle, the Modesto Bee, and the Antelope Press.  She eventually returned to the defense industry working for Boeing Inc. at Edwards Air Force Base.

She was proud to be a witness, while on the flightline, for the landing of the first Space Shuttle, Columbia. She later transferred to Seattle, Washington where she excelled as a technical writer and editor who worked with designers to produce the Boeing worldwide corporate meetings and national stockholder meetings. She was also an editor for the proposals that Boeing would submit to the government in an effort to secure contracts. According to her friends and co-workers there, Jill held a high standard in her work ethics. She received many promotions and requests for her to be on specific projects because she always produced thorough and quality work.

In 1988 Jill moved back to Ogden, Utah to work at the Ogden Boeing facility.  While there, she met S. Lynn Warr. He was the man who made her happier than any education or career. They were married on July 8, 1993 in Malad, Idaho. They planned a life together and hoped to make their home in the village of Samaria, Idaho after their retirement. Sadly, on December 2, 1996, Lynn lost his life due to Leukemia. During her own battle with cancer, Jill spoke of passing and being able to return to be with the most beloved person in her life. She expressed that their six years together was a time of closeness and love that has rarely been known.

Jill’s thirst for knowledge and study of language and writing, gave her an amazing ability to tackle the hardest crossword puzzles. She loved snow skiing, fishing, licorice, and peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwiches. She loved her pet cats and birds. She loved to plant and cultivate a garden. She enjoyed growing the most beautiful flowers and all kinds of vegetables. Cooking was a passion, and she enjoyed being able to can and preserve the things that she grew in her garden. Jill loved to shop and had a vast collection of exquisite shoes, purses, and cookware.

Jill enjoyed traveling, and the arts. She loved God and Jesus Christ and talked with them often. She studied and understood the scriptures. She loved good music and enjoyed playing the piano. Her fascination, knowledge, and understanding of astrology was vast and the things she shared regarding people’s tendencies and traits were detailed and accurate!

Her husband Lynn Warr, father William Rowley, mother Dorothy Wims, step-father James Wims, sister Linda Blount, brother-in- law George Blount, nephew Steven Johnson, sister- in- law Janet Rowley, and baby sister Robin Rowley preceded her in death. Her aunt and uncle Edith and Leonard Bennett, who were like parents to her, also preceded her in death.

We know that Heavenly Father and Jesus loved Jill and welcomed her home with loving arms. She was looking forward to the healing, love, and joy she knew would come with them in heaven.

A graveside service will be held November 9, 2023 at 12:00 pm at the Fillmore Cemetery.
